As cats age their coat can become a huge problem to the owner. These cats are usually fed a commercial diet which culminates in their fur becoming matted. They also develop dandruff. 

When grooming an older cat one must be patient and give the cat time to adjust to being constrained. Therefore older cats can take much longer to groom and in some cases it is better carried out over two visits rather than one.
