The Lion Cut with a cat groomer

Variations on the Lion Cut

When you call a mobile cat groomer for a lion cut you should be ready for what will happen. This is the only cut for a cat and the name Lion Cut came about because the vet wanted to explain to the client what the cat would look like after he had finished removing the matted coat.

When a cat is completely matted this is the only option and there are many variations of the lion cut depending on the condition of the coat.

The tail can either be kept long or given a bob at the end. Some clients like to go for a full mane , others just a ruff. The front legs generally are kept long and the back legs clipped down to the ankles. This is a long job and can only be accomplished if the cat allows.
